- Insurance card and any referral letter
- Sunglasses — your pupils may be dilated
What to expect
- Registration at the front desk. Vision test — a technician checks vision and eye pressure. Doctor consultation — discusses symptoms, examines your eyes, may recommend further tests.
- Possible dilation — especially for first-time visitors and those over 40; takes 20–30 minutes to take effect, affects near vision and light sensitivity for hours after.
How long it takes
- A first visit with a full exam and dilation typically takes 1.5–2 hours from check-in, depending on clinic volume and tests needed.
